Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She is the co-founder and director of Thrive Global, as well as the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington, an independently-owned Liberal news site is a popular TV show host as well as a writer and charitable donor. Born in Greece she came to England when she was 16 and was able to graduate from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. When she was 21, she was president of the famous debating club The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign student who was elected to this position. When she graduated, she made her impression as an editorialist for the conservative syndicate as well as with the launch of The Huffington Post' few years later she created an online platform for voice that offered critical observations regarding the current political situation. Her popularity has led to the attraction of many well-known contributors for posting their thoughts on politics, news and other topics. Arianna gained notoriety during 2003 when she ran as an independent candidate in the recall contest in California to replace the then-Governor Davis. Apart from this she also led a Detroit initiative to encourage fuel efficient cars. In 2009, she was acclaimed by Forbes as the most influential women in media gaining 12th position on their ranking. In the same year the Guardian listed her on the Top 100 Media list. AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post in 2011 and named her the president of the media group, which also included additional AOL properties like Engadget AOL Music Style list and Patch Media. Elli was the youngest daughter of Konstantinos, a journalist and a management consultant. Though she shared a kinship connection to both her mother and father and father, it was their relationship that helped shape her. While in her formative times, she demonstrated abilities to lead, and for this she remains well-known. At 16 years of age she relocating to the United Kingdom to pursue her studies and enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. She joined The Cambridge Union college debate society during her time at college as she was the first woman to hold the position of president. Her graduation was in 1972 and she earned an MA in Economics. After graduation, she began working as a columnist critic, and as a host on television. Her appearance on Face the music with Bernard Levin was also a highlight. She began to write books with his guidance in editing.
